Brother Ahmed,

You are losing it now. All that you put it down are just theories of why Besigye fell out with Museveni. But there shouldn’t be any theories about this issue because everything is clear and on paper. Dr. Besigye produced a document in 1990 before he left NRM and gave all the reasons as to why NRM had to change its direction. Senior military officials or what you people in the media call ‘historicals’ agreed to seek an audience with president museveni to discuss this document but only for them to change their minds when they met Museveni. Besigye was so disappointed and that’s when he made up his mind that it was time to move on.The rest is history as they say.

It’s just that the time Besigye decided to fight Museveni within NRM, the president had not seen anything like that before and that’s why he made it a ‘bit’ personal in the beginning. He almost stopped him from resigning from UPDF. Other things you guys call ‘personal’ like Besigye marrying Museveni’s former girlfriend, are irrelevant. Winnie and Besigye were already solid before Besigye and Museveni fell out.Besigye also continued to be part of the NRM inner circle despite this relationship.

As now a father to two daughters myself, I think its high time we( men) stop thinking that women dont know what they want. Winnie chose Besigye over any other man, and all former boyfriends including Museveni accepted it.I have no personal feuds with guys now married to my former girlfriends, have you?

Museveni is not fighting Besigye out of a personal feud. He could fight anybody who threatens his hold on to power.Buganda is the lattest in the boxing ring.Even you, Katerega,if you become a *2001 Besigye* today, you would be subjected to the same treatment provided you come up with the strength Besigye came with in 2001. Museveni will throw everything he has at the wall to see what might stick, (the Truth be damned), from treason charges, rape to stealing NewVision money, if it gets you out of the way.

The truth is that Party politics can spawn wars, riots and feuds in developed nations. In developing countries, party differences have produced purges, prisons and genocide. You challenge any African dictator, you are likely to face either prison, death, threats to your family members, exile or something like that. I think Besigye has faced everything so far apart from death. Most people in his position would have given up by now by the Besigye is still determined to carry on and this is where some of us sympathise with him.

Otherwise, as far as i know, Besigye has never been found by FDC to have abused his powers in pursuit of any personal feud with anybody. The moment he does, FDC will kick him out.Hope the NRM does the same when Museveni uses his office to settle personal feuds with others.

Evenif it was true(though its not) that Besigye is in politics to settle his personal feuds with Museveni, he wont be the first and last to do so. USA’s Kennedy was also accused of standing for presidency as a product of a personal feud with president Lyndon Johnson but he went on to make a good damn president for Americans.
