Good Afternoon Indian Country!

Yes! Happy New Year to each and everyone of you! May 2010 be a blessed year for all of you, filled with warmth, care and love, for each one of you are very well deserving of such blessings indeed.

2010 has arrived, some of us ask in some manner, where did 2009 go to? How did we miss so much?

Well 2009 was filled with a means of hope and Indian Country saw some impressive events put in place and a President has in some small way addressed his promises, yet, there is still a lot of work to be accomplished.

Indian Country is growing and a people are showing that without alcohol, drugs and gang activity, they can achieve great things, but the path is rough and rocky ahead, but the means of hope is a strong beacon, guiding Indian Country towards a hopeful future for generations to come.

As we mosey into 2010, we know there are still issues of tribal corruption, crime, domestic violence, child and teen abuse, but we are being given the proper tools to address these matters and with the right folks seated in our tribal governments we shall over-come these matters that will indeed provide us with even a stronger beacon of hope.

We have not failed, for we are not failures, we carry the blood of our ancestors and our hearts are strong, we shall endure and prosper because we do not give up, our grandfathers did not, nor shall we.

We can be and probably are a very proud people, even though at times we may have felt that certain groups, organizations, politicians and other people let us down or tried to desecrate our hearts, yet we prevailed and stood firmly upon the homeland of our people.

We have not given up any means of hope!

We have not given up seeking a genuine future!

We have not given up our culture, ceremonies, medicines or belief’s, despite those who distorted and destroyed so much, we continued to grasp a hold of our traditions and in doing so have been able to prove we are still a people to be reckon with and we will continue to move onward and upward.

Ladies & Gentlemen, Young and Old, please accept 2010 with open arms and with a heart full of respect, honor, pride and dignity, for we indeed are Sovereign Nations of a people who have surivived the World’s Worst Holocaust, centuries of oppression and Cultural Genocide and in 2010 we shall be recognized as a people on a sincere and unique mission!

The End

CIA Takes A Big Hit In Afghanistan

CIA takes a big hit in Afghanistan

THE NATION

Islamabad

The eight Americans who were killed in a blast set off by a suicide bomber at a military base in Afghanistan on Wednesday were CIA operatives, according to media reports.

The bomber eluded security at the facility — used by the CIA as an operations and surveillance center — in the eastern province of Khost before detonating his explosives in what U.S. officials described as a fitness center, The Washington Post reported.

The attack at the C.I.A. base, Forward Operating Base Chapman, in Khost Province appeared to be the single deadliest episode for the spy agency in the eight years since the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks. It also dealt a significant blow to the often insular, tight-knit organization, which has lost only 90 officers in the line of duty since its founding in 1947.

U.S. military officials and diplomats confirmed the attack and the deaths.

“We mourn the loss of life in this attack,” U.S. State Department spokesman Ian Kelly said.

At least one Afghan citizen died in the blast, sources said.

They said the final number of dead could be higher because at least six American civilians were wounded. Several sources confirmed to the Post the deceased and wounded were civilians, adding that most likely were CIA employees or contractors.

“It is the nightmare we’ve been anticipating since we went into Afghanistan and Iraq,” John McLaughlin, a former CIA official, told the Post. “Our people are often out on the front line, without adequate force protection, and they put their lives quite literally in jeopardy.”

BORED NOW

December 31st, 2009 No comments

BORED NOW…. After listening to incessant conservative whining for several days now, I realize that the right is targeting Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano. I just can’t figure out what it is, exactly, that conservatives think Napolitano did wrong. Rep. Peter King (R-N.Y.) is complaining that he _didn’t like the look_ (http://rawstory.com/2009/12/peter-king-napolitano-not-emotional-enough/) on the DHS secretary’s face. In the wake of the attempted bombing of a plane bound for Detroit, Rep. Peter King (NY-R) criticized Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano for appearing “bored.” [...] “Finally, Janet Napolitano comes out and the first thing she said was everything worked well. And she seemed almost like she was bored to be there. There was no intensity. There was no show of emotion,” he said. That’s what it’s come to with today’s Republican Party — in the wake of an attempted terrorist attack, one of the first GOP responses is to blast the Homeland Security secretary for her tone and facial expressions. King wants her to be more “emotional.” Is there something in the water I’m not aware of? Keep in mind, King _went on to say_ (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/12/29/napolitano-assailed-for-n_n_406353.html) about the Obama administration, “Let me make it clear, I think they are doing the right thing as far as their policies. Since this attack occurred, the FBI and, as far as I can tell, Homeland Security and all the agencies of the United States government are doing the right job.” So, a leading Republican lawmaker is blasting the head of DHS, not because of her on-the-job performance, but because she was calm and composed during a public statement. I’m at a loss here. Going after Napolitano for “the system worked” is
